Walk to Cóvel

An environment of the alpine landscape: the peat-bog

The walk begins near the Dairy of Peio, follows the metalled road for a little while and then turns into CAI-SAT path no. 125, which leads across a large area of hay meadows with numerous hay barns that represent a typical example of rural alpine architecture. You will cross the torrent Vióz and continue towards Malga Cóvel, whose pasture is grazed by many herds of sheep and goats in the summer. The walk continues towards a peat-bog with a small pond; you then come to a foot-bridge near the waterfall of the torrent Vióz and, passing the beautiful meadows of the Plain of Cóvel along path no. 125, you are on your way back to the village.

Walk to Cóvel

This walk, which covers a particular topic, leads the visitor to a special and fairly limited environment of the alpine landscape: the peat-bog. This area constitutes a small ecological laboratory, in which the interested observer may watch the distribution of various plant and animal species that require very particular environmental conditions.
