Walk to the dairies and haybarns
The ancient dairy and the typical haybarns of the Rabbi Valley
The walk begins at the Visitors’ Centre of Rabbi Fonti, leading up the ancient mule path towards Piazzola. After following a steep, wooded slope, it passes the meadows below tiny hamlets on the left-hand side of the Rabbi Valley. At the hamlet Còsi, you cross the provincial road and continue towards the small, characteristic villages of Masét and Serra. Then the path leads up to Arét and through the meadows, affording a close-up view of numerous hay barns. After that, you follow the forest track downslope for a while, before taking the path that leads to Somrabbi. Here, the Somrabbi Dairy was renovated by the Park’s skilled craftsmen and turned into a museum, illustrating the traditional way of producing butter and cheese. The circular itinerary then follows the metalled road to Cotorni where, after a short walk along a country-lane, you take the mule path to Plan, which leads to the main road at the valley bottom and back to the Visitors’ Centre.
